2026 Programs – Located at Lansing Public Library, 2750 Indiana Avenue, Lansing, IL
February – February 23, 2026, at 6:00 p.m, our program will be “Bessie Coleman, African American Aviation Pioneer.” It will be presented by local historian, Dan Cuthbert, who is also an Information Services Associate at the Lansing Public Library. The program will take place in the Community Room of the Lansing Public Library.

March – March 23, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. will feature Anna Sielaff with her presentation on “Women’s Baseball in Illinois and the Midwest.” Anna comes to us through the Illinois Humanities Road Scholar Speakers’ Bureau. This presentation offers an exciting opportunity to explore how Illinois played a significant role in the formation of The All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. The program will take place in the Community Room.
April –
April 8, 2026, the Lansing Historical Museum will be presenting our annual exhibit entitled, “Lansing Fallen Heroes,” continuing through the rest of April. The exhibit honors Officer Ken Novak, Lansing’s only police officer to be killed on duty and Phil Martini, Lansing’s only Iraq War casualty. Both men were killed on April 8th.
April 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. our program will be “The Lansing Old-Timers and the History of Lansing Baseball.” It will be presented by Ken Reynolds and other people who remember the great teams and leagues that Lansing sponsored. It will take place on Monday, in the Community Room.

April 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., the Lansing Historical Society will partner with the Thornton Fractional South History Club to host Brian “Fox” Ellis’ program entitled, “John Adams, Architect of Democracy”. The program will take place in the Grand Lobby of TF South H.S., 18500 Burnham Ave., Lansing, IL.
This hour-long program includes a series of true stories from the founding of our country with each short story followed by a question. The audience will discuss what it means to be an American. John Adams will share the history of what steps led up to the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. There will be a discussion about our rights and responsibilities, our shared history and a hopeful future.
